Our History
We are all too aware that there are many issues that plague our society today. Homelessness is one of them. As Canadians, we should all be concerned about this issue because it is happening right here at home—in our own backyards and communities! There are many misconceptions about homelessness but most importantly, we need to realize that homelessness can happen to anyone at any time.
Our vision is that someday no one will have to struggle with homelessness due to poverty or illness; everyone will have access to affordable housing and support services; no child should go hungry; every person has access to good quality jobs; every family has adequate income security through employment insurance benefits or other programs; every person has access to affordable transportation services (public transit); every senior citizen has adequate income security through social security benefits or pensions.
We started out with just a few people working together to make meals for people who were homeless in their community. We were able to provide food for over 50 families in need that first year, but we knew we could do more. Since then, we have expanded our mission to include everything from housing assistance to clothing donations to medical supplies—and much more!
